Way Behind on Your Xmas Shopping List? Top Three Easy Gift Ideas

Xmas is just around the corner, and Black Friday is not very far away either. Sometimes it can be easy to get lost in the fray of the craziness that ensues during this typically very busy time of the year. And many people I know for that matter have yet to even begin their Xmas gift shopping endeavors; much less do they have their Xmas shopping list in order – like yours truly over here. With that in mind, there are some easy and simplified tricks to getting around the holiday shopping mayhem. If you find yourself in a pickle for gift ideas, or you just have not had the spare time to get some real shopping done, don’t fret—there are some really simple ways to beat around this bush and win every time.

Three Easy Xmas Gift Ideas

  1. Gift cards or cash are easy ways out. Most people won’t bicker about getting handed some sweet hunks of change as their Xmas gift. This way they can buy whatever they feel like, or pocket the money for a rainy day. Gift cards make great holiday presents as well, and you can easily find them at nearly any retail outlet.
  2. Designer cologne or perfume gifts sets. You still have plenty of time to shop online and find designer cologne or perfume gift sets for pretty cheap, and for some rather impressive Black Friday bargains to boot. They make great gifts, they are easy to wrap and they usually come with an assortment of desirable goodies, too.
  3. Gift baskets are timeless. And during this time of the year you can find tons of them all over the place online. The bargains are fairly decent, and the selection is breathtaking and creative.

Fashion Weight Loss Tips 101: How to Easily Avoid the Typical 5-10 Pound Holiday Weight Gain Fiasco

Did you know that according to experts – on average – most people in the United States gain anywhere from five to ten pounds of excess flab over the holiday season? That’s counting Thanksgiving, Xmas and New Year’s Eve. Then, come January, why do you think that weight loss is the top resolution for people starting out the next New Year, nearly ten years and running? Because we all feel a little bit plumper, and we all, for the most part, have packed on a few pounds as we were unwrapping gifts, sipping on eggnog and enjoying jovial family get-togethers. However, there are some simple tricks that you can embrace that can allow for you to thwart this common holiday fat blunder.

Simple Tricks to Avoid Common Holiday Weight Gains

  • Weight loss experts advise that you fill up on hearty, healthy and wholesome fares before attending big holiday dinners, like Thanksgiving for example. If you eat some raw veggies with a low-fat dip, prior to embarking to Uncle Dave’s house, you will ingest far less fats over the yuletide season.
  • Don’t pack your plate or indulge in pie eating contests. The food that is served over the holidays is notoriously fatty and oh’ so delish. Most people consume around 5,000 calories at Thanksgiving dinner alone. Reality check: Eat normal portions, and you won’t have to worry.
  • Just because you are on vacation from school or work does not mean you are on vacation from working out. According to fitness gurus this is a very common no-no. People stop working out because they are on vacation. Then couple this with the high calorie intake, and many people end up spoiling their diets. Keep working out. Eat normal portions. And enjoy a slimmer you come January.

Holiday Hairiness Banished: Easy Waxing Tips for Guys

Contrary to popular belief, men also need waxing treatments from time to time. But you don’t have to paint your face orange and go crazy over it. Rather, there are some simple tricks that you can implore that can get you out of a hairy holiday bind in a jiffy. Sometimes we men can get hair in some undesirable places. Furthermore, the ladies in our lives – or our significant others – may have trouble letting us know that we are too laden with fur for their liking. Here is a quick tip: If you have too much back hair, nose hair or you are sporting a unibrow, some simple waxing services may be in order.

Three Easy Waxing Tips for the Men

  1. Book an appointment at any local day spa. The waxing services are very affordable. They have seen just about everything, so there is no need to be shy. Try making one appointment per month to keep that hair from getting everywhere.
  2. Many hair salons offer waxing services. You may want to call them first, or look up there services list on their website. In some cases, a hair salon may offer cheaper waxing services than a day spa.
  3. DIY at-home waxing. Home waxing kits are pretty inexpensive these days. You can find them at local stores – like a drugstore – or online. The instructions are included. However, if you are shy of waxing yourself, the above options are recommended.

Fashion’s Accent

The details in an outfit make all the difference in how the outfit is perceived and how the person wearing the outfit is viewed. The slight change in the details can help make an outfit more flattering, or it can destroy the image that the outfit was going for. Even the placement of the ornaments is important in order to allow for the right effects. The ornament in the wrong area or going the wrong direction can make a person look bad rather than good.

One of the most important details in an outfit is the material. Higher end materials will hold the shape and appearance far better than cheap materials. This means that the high end material will not sag or stretch too much, that the material will be less likely to deform and less likely to lose color. The higher end material may be more fragile and susceptible to damage, but it will not be ruined through simple wear. Look for natural materials like cotton and silk, rather than polyester and nylon.

Another important detail is the cut of the outfit. Look for outfits that hug the narrowest part of the body and float away from the trouble spots. This will help to ensure a smooth image and form. Avoid seems and lines that cross the broadest part of the body. This can help a person to visually lose several pounds, while wearing clothing with the wrong cut can add much more visual weight to a person.

The fit of the clothing is very important. The clothing should fit; you should not be forced to squeeze yourself into an outfit. This can cause the outfit to make you look heavy and even make it look like you are trying to deny your size. The ill fitting clothing works in reverse as well. If the outfit is too big, you look like you are trying to hide yourself, and you are uncomfortable with who you are.

When the outfit has ornaments, such as sparkles, embroidery, stitching, or added materials like bows or roses, make sure that the ornaments look good on and draw the eye to the areas of the body you like. The eye is attracted to shy or bright objects, and the eye will move immediately to such a bright ornament on the body. The ornament will not cause the eye to ignore the area around it, but rather pay more attention to it. The direction that the ornament faces or points will also direct the eye in its next spot of attention.

For an example, if a person’s outfit features a shiny embellishment that points up and down along the side of the person, the eye will first go to that ornament and then travel along the profile. This can be very beneficial to those who have an hourglass figure, but it can be trying for those who have a fuller figure. The same occurs when the ornament is across the chest. The initial glance will be at the bust, and the horizontal image of the ornament will cause the eye to follow side to side, instead of moving up towards the face.

Using Hand Lotion on Your Face??

Recently I posted a blog about how to use lotion. Now, let’s discuss the differences between the lotions. It is vital that the right lotion is used for the right job. Just as one would not use a hammer for a screw, using hand lotion for the face will be equally ineffective at keeping clear and beautifully soft skin. There are a lot of different types of lotion on the market, there is little doubt that there is a lot of confusion regarding the right lotions to use.

Wholesale Indoor Tanning Lotion

  1. Hand lotion should not be used on your face. Most hand lotions are very strong lotions because the hands tend to dry out rather quickly. However, the facial lotions tend to be more gentle because the face has very sensitive skin. In addition, hand lotion often has oil in it, and this can clog the pores on your face.
  2. Foot lotion is a thicker lotion that is designed to penetrate the thicker skin that is on the foot. In most cases, this lotion also has peppermint oil in it, which helps to stimulate the blood flow to the feet, renewing and recycling the skin cells better. This lotion can be used on very damaged parts of the body, such as elbows and knees, but it is not recommended for the whole of the body.
  3. Slimming lotion is a lotion that is designed to tighten the skin. This lotion does leave the skin nice and soft, but it also reduces the amount of room between the cells and increases the elasticity of the skin. This is ideal for the bust, the legs, hips, stomach and butt. It should be rinsed off the hands immediately after use.
  4. Caffeine infused lotion sounds like a miracle lotion. However, this lotion is not designed to hydrate, but rather reduce the signs of cellulite. There is not enough caffeine in the lotion to keep you awake, but there is enough to stimulate the blood flow in the skin. This allows for the potential flushing away of cellulite. Be sure to drink plenty of water while using this lotion.
  5. Tinted, or stretch mark reducing, lotions are made with a little bit of color in them. This small amount of color helps to brighten the skin, reduce the visual appearance of cellulite and stretch marks, and helps to hydrate the skin. Because there is some tint to the lotion, it may stain the hands and it may stick more and provide a darker cover to areas that are drier.

Rocker’s For Men

Now, I love, love, love, my Sketcher’s Rocker Bottom shoes. I love to go for walks wearing them. They are comfortable and they actually work. Plus, I get a couple extra inches of height in them, which, I need. I do not wear them when I am going out though, they are for walking only. However, recently I’ve noticed quite a few men wearing these shoes all the time.

I’m not saying that there is anything wrong with wearing the rocker shoes to work if you do a lot of walking. That is if the job force allows for a casual appearance instead of a business formal or even a business casual look. These are not suitable replacements for business or formal shoes under no circumstances. It can even be very beneficial for those men who find that they need to lose some extra weight.

What I am saying is that it is one thing to wear them in private or when doing a lot of walking, but they should not be worn when going out. The Sketcher’s, or any brand for that matter, Rocker Bottom shoes are not appropriate for wearing out and about. It is not acceptable for women, and not acceptable for men.

I’ve mentioned this in passing in my women’s fashion tips, but I think I really need to drive it home for you men, since you are less likely to change your shoes from point A to point B. This means you are more likely to wear the more comfortable shoes despite how they look. Well, for the sake of sanity and appearance, please, please do not wear the rocker shoes out and about. Leave them at home. They are great, for private use only.

A Tough Talker Reveals a Tender Ego

Maybe brash-talking Janice Dickinson isn’t as tough as she seems.

The host of Oxygen’s “Janice Dickinson Modeling Agency” and self-described first supermodel was here Sunday for Twin Cities designer Christopher Straub‘s Premiere Fashion Show at the St. Paul Hotel. When I contacted her person via e-mail about a video interview, Dickinson’s person responded: “No problem, Janice would like to know what this would be used for and what the angle of the story is? Will it be in print or web use? She just wants to make sure your [sic] not going to trash her. Also you need to be sure that you state Janice Dickinson is courtesy of Privileged Model Management.”

Can someone who talks as much smack as Dickinson actually also be thin-skinned?

“No, but she can be a diva and choose who she grants interviews to :) … she’s actually great, you’ll love her,” replied her handler, who invited me to Dickinson’s VIP event, which I didn’t attend. Here’s a photo from IamMoody.com guy Richard Moody, promoter of events and fashion shows.
